In 1953 Osvaldo Borsani partnered with his brother to form the design and manufacturing firm Tecno. Osvaldo’s designs Were rapidly moving away from the typical Italian Art Deco movement in search for new modern solutions. Industrial produced furniture was vastly expanding, so this take on design was a great succes.
Osvaldo was Tecno’s sole designer until he was joined by his daughter Valeria and his son in law Marco Fantoni. These three were the only Tecno designers for nearly 30 years.
In the 80s they opened theire doors for a new bread of talented Italian designers like Gae Aulenti and Eugenio Gerli and some Internatiol rising stars like Emilio Ambasz and Sir Norman Foster. Tecno was praised for it’s high standard in quality finish, the extended research for their technological approach and cutting edge furniture.
